Fire and Rescue Services

Kilimanjaro International Airport currently operates a fleet of four fully equipped fire fighting and emergency vehicles based very close to the runway and apron. This fleet is entirely for use at the airport. The fire fighting services are ICAO Cat 9 Standard and fire services are subject to regular inspections by the airport security coordinators and a yearly inspection by the Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority.
 

Investment Opportunities At KIA

Kilimanjaro International Airport also boast to have good ample land for investment and intends to attract prospective investors to its 110sq km estate to choose from investing in EPZ, Duty Free Port, Hotels, Game Ranch, Educational Institutions, Shopping Centres, Golf Course, Customs Bonded Warehouse, and Cargo Handling Services among others. The airport is connected by a good road and railway to all major economic points of the region.
 

Logistics Support

Equity Tanzania Ltd. and United Aviation Services are registered companies based at the airport which provide full logistic support, including meet and greet services to commercial and private jets.

KADCO is responsible for all other aspects of aircraft services. These include a simple and efficient billing mechanism for aircraft landing that attempt to make it easy for the airlines to operate smoothly there,

 

   

Maintenance Facility for the Region

The state of art maintenance facility at Kilimanjaro International Airport is currently run by Tanjet Centre, a fixed base operator which provides a logistic support to private jets and later to aircraft maintenance activities to KIA. The hangar measures 110 x 83sq.mtrs and 23 metres high. It is large enough to accommodate one Boeing 747 or one MD11 and two ATRs at one time.

 

 

 

 

Aircraft Services

Currently, aircraft services are handled by different organizations operating out of the airport. Baggage and cargo are handled by Swissport whilst fuel is handled jointly by Total and BP(Tanzania) Ltd.
